LOL... not much. A lot of what he'd intended to cover was already addressed by previous people on the agenda. I frankly don't remember what he said :D, but it wasn't a whole lot - he was barely up there for 2 minutes.

Speaking of the City Council meeting, supposedly Tom Hart was on the agenda, what did he have to say, just from morbid curiosity?

Well I agree with everything Joseph has said. And while I agree with IO that it's not a good idea for anybody to tie themselves to the hip to anybody else, it's neither a big deal nor very surprising that any council member has their preferences of other candidates they'd like to work with. It doesn't mean they can't work with their opponent should the opponent win, and saying you'd prefer any specific person to win doesn't mean you're "tied to the hip" to that person. All it means is you'd prefer to work with them over their opponent.

I do like the fact that Maria really didn't ally herself to anybody publicly. But if people were trying to be ridiculous they could say that this amounts to waffling or not being clear on where she stood. Anybody can make a negative thing out of anything if they really want to. I mean is Bob Roche the guy who "isn't clear about his position on anything" or is he the guy who "is tied to the hip to Tom Hart"? It seems that anything one's opponent does is negative, while the same thing is somehow positive if the person they support does it.

So, whatever. Like Joseph said it's all much ado about nothing. I thought Monday's council meeting was extremely positive and I'm looking forward to getting the runoff over with, and moving forward with whoever we have.

Well, since it was Chris who came out of the chute with the negative campaigning, I guess it would have taken a Christ-like person to not respond to that. LOL

Actually, I don't know much more about Roche except for what he's said, which is good as far as it goes -- which is the beef as far as many are concerned -- but I think it's good for ANY of them not to tie themselves to the hip politically to anyone else. Their decisions should be on the issues that face the city as they come up.

Personally, I like to hear candidates actually talk about what they'll do once they get elected. If all we ever hear from someone running for office is what a jerk the opponent is--it still doesn't let the voters know why we should vote for them.

What annoyed me most about a lot of the "negativity" in this past race was that most of it had little to nothing to do with issues facing the city. I honestly don't care if someone put his yard signs in the same yard as another candidate or forgot to fill out a box on their disclosure forms--especially in some disclosure from a year and a half ago. If that's the best any side can come up with they're better off just sticking to the issues.

Sorry IO, I can't say.

I know how everyone just hates "negative campaigning".

Sorry, SOSO, but one more correction. Jenkins' billboard was up BEFORE the general election and not just for a "massive campaign" for the runoff.

So . . . I voted for Maria. To my knowledge, she didn't say who she "supported," though there are some who may know personally or by other means.

So what's the difference between her and Roche? Different standards to which we're holding candidates? And it would make sense that there would be one of two that they'd support.

If we're to be forward thinking and welcome diversity and change, it doesn't make sense to me to categorize folks by how they may support a person -- or not. Much as I hate to admit it, LOL, even Spangler and Hart have done a few good things from time to time. :-)

The runoff is Tuesday, December 4th.

The December 3rd Council meeting will be at the Civic Center because of that.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! :-)

Jenkins is staging a massive campaign for the runoff.

I even noticed a billboard for Jenkins campaign near the corner of McClave and Buford Highway.

Tom Hart is out campaigning for Ray Jenkins and so is Bob Roche. And like Joseph said, I'm not surprised. Personally, I knew it the whole time. Bob played a noncommittal campaign to get the "I don't like negative campaigning" votes and the voters fell for it. So now Northwoods has a City Councilmen working for them that has never done anything for or with the community, has never really been active in Doraville government until he ran for office and never really clearly stated what his attentions were. So, obviously, since he has been elected, the mystery is unfolding and it ain't pretty.

So if Jenkins gets Mayor and Pam City Council it will be Brian and Maria against "the good ol' boys".

And it's no secret I'm for Marlene. The one that told the truth? So, again, please VOTE ON DECEMBER 6th!! And if you can't, get a MAIL IN and VOTE BY MAIL!! It is really important.

And on a brighter note, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
